Gift cards for your restaurant: sell without commission

Christmas, birthdays, Mother's Day, a colleague leaving, there are always moments when people look for a restaurant gift. Gift cards are revenue you bring in today, while the guest comes to dine later. Set up smartly, they take little effort and pay off structurally.

With gift cards in Restotailor you sell digitally via your website, without us taking commission. Payments go directly through your payment provider. All included in €65 per month. In this article you learn how to get the most out of it.

Why gift cards?

A gift card is more than an envelope with an amount. You get prepaid revenue, often from guests you do not know yet, the recipient visits later and often spends more than the voucher value. Demand peaks around holidays. Without online sales you miss that flow or must track vouchers manually. Digital makes the process easy for buyer and recipient: pay online, receive a code, book and dine later.

No commission, still revenue

Many platforms take a percentage on every gift card sale, sometimes on top of your payment provider fees. With Restotailor nobody is in between: 0% commission on gift cards, just like on your online reservations. You pay your fixed subscription and your own payment provider transaction costs. That transparency matters, especially when you sell many vouchers around the holidays.

Sell online via the widget

Guests buy gift cards via a widget on your own website, the same place where they reserve. They choose an amount, pay online and receive their voucher by email with code and details. You see the purchase immediately in your overview. No separate platform, no manual admin. Also read our article on online reservations on your own website if you have not integrated the widget yet.

Amounts, validity and appearance

You decide which amounts guests can choose, think €25, €50 and €100, and set a default validity (for example one, two or three years). Customise the widget with your branding: theme colour, border radius and fixed amounts. After purchase the guest can download a PDF or print it as a gift. Handy when someone wants to hand over the voucher in person.

Payment goes directly to you

Online payments go through your payment provider (such as Mollie). The money lands directly in your account. Restotailor does not process the payment or hold anything back. Configure your payment settings once in the portal and you are ready. That applies to gift cards and any deposits on reservations.

Sales in the restaurant

Not everything has to be online. You can also create a gift card manually in the portal, for example when someone buys a voucher at the bar. Generate a payment QR code so the guest can pay immediately by phone. You keep the same overview as online sales, without separate till admin.

Guest profiles and marketing

Every online purchase is linked to a guest profile. You see who bought which voucher, when and for what amount. Filter in your CRM for guests who already bought a gift card, useful for targeted campaigns around holidays via a newsletter or promotion on social media. Redeem at the till

Does the recipient come to dine? Redemption happens via the till in Restotailor. Look up the voucher by code, deduct the amount from the bill and the guest pays the rest normally. No more loose vouchers floating around or being redeemed twice, everything is central in your system.

Conclusion

Gift cards are a simple way to generate extra revenue and bring in new guests. With Restotailor you sell online via your widget, without commission, with payment going directly to you. You set amounts and validity yourself, also sell in the restaurant via QR code and redeem vouchers at the till. Everything connects with your guest profiles and reservations, included in €65 per month. Put the widget on your site, test a purchase and promote your vouchers around the next holiday, you miss less gift revenue than you think.
